Well, I think it could have a positive effect. Just like with images of lung cancer and destroyed teeth & gums may ward away potential buyers of cigarettes…maybe “speedkills” can act as a similar deterrant. Perhaps they could add some images of mangled bodies in a car crash :).
Not really. The scary pictures on cigarrete packets scare the heck out of non-smokers but make smokers want to smoke even more.
Oh great… Another government advertisment… It really isn’t going to do much, placing a huge ad over an entire town…
I don’t think that will really stop dumb people who want to speed.
It would be good to include speeding death statistics, and the expected effect on them.
Yes, and if this is to be some sort of annual thing, then results might show benefit.
I think this is a good gesture on point to attempt to lower traffic accidents in the region, but in the end it boils down to being just that – a gesture. Most likely laughable at any rate.
Agreed. I doubt such childish behaviour will cause anything other than laughter at the expense of Australians.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAA Australia! LOL
Perhaps people can think up taglines/headlines to help the campaign. e.g. “I see something beginning with less speed” “TOWN TO SET A FINE SIGN – METAPHORIC RISE TO LIFE.” “Town of life support lives, Welcome to SPEEDKILLS ” ” MARCH CAMPAIGN TO CAUSE SLIGHT NET DELAY ” , “Town counts clicks, way better than mounting toll” “Attraction of speed lies further afield, we have the sign of y/our lives” “We’re not trying to make a name for ourselves, nor to become a ghost town, we’re changing our name so you can keep yours. – By order the ‘Mayor’ S. Down ” 220.101.66.30 (talk) 08:53, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I was beginning to think it was April 1st…
